I am Angelique Davies, a registered Early Childhood Educator based in Toronto.
To become a more creative teacher, I pursued an Advanced Certificate in Early Childhood Music Education from the Royal Conservatory of Music and Ryerson University. My experience teaching young children, along with these studies, led to the creation of a professional development workshop for ECEs, called Musical Links to Literacy. Since 2003, I have presented this workshop for the conferences of such organizations as Frontier College, The Learning Enrichment Foundation, Wee Watch, the Association of Early Childhood Educators of Ontario (Toronto and Provincial branches) and many others.
Eventually this became the inspiration for my graduate studies in arts curriculum in the early years and in teacher development. Through teaching courses in music, drama and creative art at Mothercraft College, I have deepened my understanding of the needs of adult learners and of the value of arts education for the very young.
Because I believe that arts education is the right of all children, I created a place for those who teach and care for children five and younger to learn and share creative ideas: the Early Childhood Arts Connection.
